I believed the price difference would sway the market. I didn't realize the special mark downs like the limited $100 DVD players from Walmart was a sign that Toshiba was losing.
Some people don't think it is a total loss. There are a reported 500 HD titles still on the market that will probably get a major price cut in the future. It is possible to fill up quite collection if the screwed consumers are looking to make the best of a bad situation.

This sucks.... The industry failed the consumers who were confused by the debate. The consumers who are the industry's best customers were the ones who made a choice and invested in one technology or the other. Standards don't seem to work for DVD technology (or the historic betamax debate). Seems odd since HD TV change from analog to digitial is much more managed.
